Taurine is an amino acid which acts as a membrane stabiliser and aids various anti-oxidant mechanisms. It is found in foods, highest being in meats.
Indications
The main indication for taurine is to reduce cramping when using fat burners containing Ephedrine-like compounds.
How much should I take?
One should take between 0.5-2g of taurine per day with a maximal safe upper limit set at 3g.
Research
The evidence base behind taurine is rather weak with it mostly pointing to promoting general health and well-being.
Side effects
No lifetime side effects have been reported with a supplementation of up to 3g per day.

I find taurine helps prevent my forearms “pumping up” and losing my grip when I’m doing any grappling training. My friend also found it extremely helpful for enduro-motorcross; again for maintaining grip
