For this interview, Supplement Judge is very lucky and privileged to speak to IFBB Ms Britain Lynsey Beattie. In this interview we will gain an insight into what it takes to become an athlete competing at the highest standard!
1. Could you te ll us a bit about yourself and your background?
Mum of 3 IFBB pro athlete Actress and co-owner of LA PROFESSIONAL TAN, brought up in Liverpool by my mum with my sister, went to a normal public school didn’t have much as a kid but we learned to manage, been involved in entertainment from an early age always been on the stage and entertaining audiences. And now still on stage but showing my physique instead. Been professional since 03 and have travelled the world competing in bodybuilding and have been given some amazing opportunities thru this industry.
2. How long have you been training for?
I have been training for 13 years now
3. How did you get started in training?
I owned a few gyms and obviously being in the gym industry I had to get into training and how the body works so I could start to give advice, so I took up training.
4. Who got you motivated to start training?
I used to go to a lot of the bodybuilding shows and watching the girls up onstage gave me the inspiration to get involved
5. What are your short and long term fitness goals?
My short term goals are to keep in tip top shape for my sponsors and for my up and coming shows, my long term goals are to keep healthy and keep motivating people getting into the sport, and to be successful in all my ventures.
6. What workout routine has worked best for you?
Well, I change my routines round regularly to keep my body changing so I never stick with the same thing for too long.
7. What is your favourite form of cardio for cutting body fat?
Favourite form of cardio for pre contest is bike and walking low impact
8. Could you outline your basic daily diet?
My diet at the minute is:
Breakfast
Nut granola and protein shake
Mid-Morning
Protein shake 20g nuts
Lunch
Chicken salad and 20g nuts
Mid-afternoon
chicken salad 20g nuts
Dinner
steak or chicken salad 20g nuts
Before bed
Casein
Pre and post workout drinks also added in!
This changes on and off depending on whether I’m building or cutting and at the minute in I’m cutting after Christmas splurge
9. Do you use supplements? If so, what do you recommend?
Yes I use supplements I use Extreme Nutrition products
10. Do you have post/pre-workout meals? What’s your favourite?
I don’t have pre and post workout meals I stick with shakes
11. How do you deal with cravings for junk food, sweets and salty foods?
Working in this business and dieting all the time my body gets used to eating fairly clean, but I have 2 cheats a week which keeps me on track.

13. What is your biggest motivation to get you back in the gym?
My biggest motivation the get me back in the gym is knowing I will be on stage with the best bodies in the world and I don’t want to look out of place. Plus doing guest spots where I need to be in great shape will keep me hitting the gym
14. If you could go back in time, what would you change in your training?
If I could go back I would train smarter, but I’m known for my physique because I trained how I did.
15. Any advice for beginners or anyone looking to get back into fitness?
For beginners slowly build up with good form instead of lifting the most u can, for people getting back to fitness set yourself realistic goals to keep motivation.
16. Anything else you’d like to add?
Keep focussed and strong and build a great physique, a great physique is not built over night.
