This is another great product by Myprotein which I vouch for. In the past I explored HMB and found that all the research behind this amino acid suggested it works so was quite eager to give it a try.
I tried HMB during two different periods, one when I was training and the other when I was unable to train.
Whilst training, I found that I was making very strong gains, being able to lift heavier and for longer. I used it during my bulking phase and found that I was heavier than I ever was in the past. It would be unfair to attributes these gains to just HMB but I feel that it had a role to play.
The second period I used HMB was during the month leading up to my final exams, working out wasn't an option but I wanted to maintain my gains. As I mentioned earlier, HMB is one of those supplements which would prevent muscle breakdown and that it did! I was taking 5g a day and for the duration of that month I didn't lose any bulk, my body fat percentage increased by about 0.5% but that was reflected on my weight, the net muscle mass remained the same, which was a GREAT effect. I will be taking more HMB when I am abroad for summer since I am not too sure what will be happening there with gyms etc..
Overall, HMB worked well for me both for gaining mass but also preventing muscle breakdown. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to put on a bit of muscle or worried about losing muscle mass whilst not training.
